Basic Life Support

During a Basic Life Support (BLS) class offered by the American Heart Association (AHA), participants are taught fundamental life-saving techniques aimed at preserving life until advanced medical care arrives. The curriculum typically covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants, including chest compressions and rescue breathing. Additionally, students learn how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) effectively, recognizing when its use is necessary and applying it correctly. The course emphasizes the importance of teamwork and clear communication during emergency situations. Participants also gain knowledge about how to recognize and respond to choking emergencies in adults, children, and infants. BLS classes provide hands-on training and equip individuals with the skills and confidence needed to respond effectively in critical situations, ultimately increasing the chances of survival for those in need.
